Comedian Scott Fontecchio Biography

Comedian Scott Fontecchio has been making people laugh for over a decade.  A Michigan native from a family of four who enjoys sarcasm and a barrage of casual banter as a way of life, Fontecchio had no problem when he decided to take his wit to the stage after a comedian was sick in a club he was working as a bartender.

One year later he was winner of the Miller Lite Comedy Competition placing first out of more than a hundred comedians.  Soon to follow, Scott was a winner of the Chuckles Comedy Competition on Comedy Central.

Now a veteran of stand-up performances from New York to L.A., Scott has been hailed as one of the finest and wittiest crowd workers in the business with a powerful and friendly presence sure to keep you laughing non-stop. Scott’s material is clean and edgy, but appropriate for comedy audiences of nearly all ages. Scott has established himself as a true and classic tribute to the working stand-up comedian.

Currently based in Lake Tahoe, Scott is performing nightly at the Improv in Harvey’s Casino, Catch A Rising Star, Reno, and other comedy club and corporate entertainment functions.

Scott’s Biography

Scott Fontecchio was born in Iron Mountain, MI. The son of an Italian father (can you tell by the name) and an Irish mother. His wife, Julie and he, have a son Parker, who is 6. Parker, following in his father’s footsteps, has done several children’s shows with his dad and works as a sound checker.

Fontecchio was always very energetic and involved in many sports: Boxing, scuba-diving, football, Ski-Ters Water Ski Show, swim team and his favorite, skiing. A member of the Kingsford High School Ski Team, they made in to the finals every year, and he was named to the “Dream Team” in Michigan. Fontecchio belonged to the USSA Ski Team and qualified for the Junior Olympics.

Along with having many interests, Scott has worked in various jobs since his mid-teens. Fast food, mechanic, sales, roofing, waiter, bartender.

Fontecchio got his start as a comedian, at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island, located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He was employed as a waiter, but when the Comedian hired for the opening act, failed to show up, Scott winged it. He became a regular as the opening act. They do not have cars on the Island – only horses and bikes. He felt very lucky that he did not have to call home and tell his parents he got a job “picking up with a shovel” after the horses.

Fontecchio received a scholarship from Northern Michigan University for skiing. He also held offices during his years at college.

Post-graduation Scott, with a degree in Business and Marketing, moved to Chicago. Fontecchio worked for Chicago Title and Trust, until he decided to go to California.
